Video: Breezy Beats Cancer, Receiving Room of Her Dreams

Brianne "Breezy" Bochenek, 10, and her four other siblings will be getting dream room makeovers thanks to San Ramon-based nonprofit Special Spaces.

A San Ramon girl who recently beat cancer will soon enjoy her dream "Hollywood Glam" bedroom makeover, thanks to a local nonprofit that gives room makeovers to children suffering from life-threatening diseases.

After a year-long battle with bone cancer, 10-year-old Brianne "Breezy" Bochenek recently learned she was cancer-free. San Ramon-based nonprofit Special Spaces, which offers children who are fighting life-threatening diseases with dream room makeovers, selected her to be their tenth recipient.

Volunteers of the nonprofit also do room makeovers for siblings of cancer patients as well.

For the five Bochenek children, the three rooms, which nearly 20 volunteers spent the past three days working on, will be revealed to them Saturday evening at 5 p.m.

Breezy, who shares a room with her sister Brooklyn, will be getting a "Hollywood glam" room, while their brother Brenen, 13, has a guitar-themed room. Siblings Bryce, 19, and Brittney, 18, are both away at college, but when they return, they will get to relax in a beach-themed room.

Their mother Deb had this to say about the whole makeover experience:

Breezy had a bed in our room for the past year. Now she has a place to bring friends, be alone and just call her own. We are humbled by the kindness of so many and truly feel that what Shelly, Kristen and the entire special spaces crew do for these children is really remarkable. The time and dedication in making sure they honor not just the child affected by illness, but also their siblings shows their unique understanding of what families go through, and they honor that. We really can not say thank you enough. Our lives are forever changed by the kindness others have shown us over the past year.

Check out the video above to get a sneak peak at how the rooms are coming along and all the hard work Special Spaces volunteers are putting into them.
