It's Hot, but Forest Home Farms Will be 'Keeping Cool' Saturday

Head to Forest Home Farms on Saturday to learn some keys to staying cool this summer, even without air conditioning.

From the City of San Ramon

This Saturday the theme for the monthly activity at will be “Keeping Cool.”

Air conditioning keeps us cool in our homes and cars, refrigeration preserves our food, and ice cubes chill our drinks. Step back in time to the days when it wasn’t so easy to beat the summer heat. Try one cooling method by making your own paper fan.

Meet at 10 a.m. or noon to discover some of the different ways people kept cool at the turn of the century. End the experience by squeezing your own lemonade and dropping in a few ice cubes.

Tours of the restored Victorian Glass House Museum will be held at 10am, 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. and tours of Forest Home Farms Historic Park, including the tractor museum, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and the fee is $5 per person or $8 for both tours taken on the same day. Tour tickets can be purchased in the Gift Shoppe. Children ages 2 and under are free.

For more information about Forest Home Farms Historic Park call (925) 973-3284 or visit www.SanRamon.ca.gov. ForestHome Farms Historic Park is located at 19953 San Ramon Valley Blvd., just south of Pine Valley Road in San Ramon.
