Is Ballet Life Really Like the Black Swan? Dancers Discuss at San Ramon Library Tonight

The Diablo Ballet and the San Ramon Library present "Inside the Dancer's Life: Black Swan & Beyond" tonight at 6:30 p.m.

If you've seen the Black Swan, you know being a ballet dancer isn't always glamorous. But does the Natalie Portman film really depict life as a ballet dancer?

Real ballet dancers will discuss tonight at the San Ramon Library. The discussion is called Inside the Dancer's Life: Black Swan & Beyond and will start at the library at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is free for all ages.

The discussion will focus on the demanding life of a professional ballet dancer - from years of demanding training, world travels, and injuries. Also discussed will be the Academy Award winning movie Black Swan.

Did the movie get the world of ballet right? Lauren Jonas, Diablo Ballet Artistic Director, will moderate the panel which will include Diablo Ballet dancers sharing their personal stories of struggle and success in the world of professional dance.
