Dougherty Valley High Ranks No. 100 Best High School in the U.S.

California High School is rated no. 368 on the list.

Dougherty Valley High school in San Ramon was named number 100 on Newsweek's list of the top high schools in the U.S. for 2013.

The other San Ramon school to make the cut out of the list of 2,000 public high schools in the nation was California High, which came in at number 368.

Dougherty Valley High is a state-of-the-art school in the Windemere development which opened in 2007. The school has an enrollment of over 1,000 students. The school features an impressive aquatics and performing arts center, which is part of a joint-use agreement with the city.

Newsweek's list highlights schools in the nation that turns out college-ready grads. The formula is based on graduation rate, college acceptance rate, AP tests, SAT scores and other similar factors.

The school boasts a graduation rate of 100 percent, 98 percent of its students are college bound, and the scored an impressive average of 1765 on the SAT.
