Community Corner

Street Smarts Media Kick-Off Event

Come celebrate the launch of the San Ramon Valley Street Smarts Program's newest traffic safety education programs, designed to make our community a safer place to walk, bike and drive.

This year's event features Captain Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger, who along with his crew brought a US Airways jetliner and its 155 passengers to safety in the Hudson River on January 15, 2009. Captain Sullenberger is a national advocate for aircraft safety and will be speaking about the dangers of distracted driving.

The event will also highlight the "It Happens" teen driving safety campaign, "Be Reel!" Video Contest for middle school students, Storybook Poster Contest for elementary schools, assemblies, bike rodeos and other outreach efforts.
