Will Voters Elect Mayor With Bigger City Center in Mind?

With Bill Meine's last-minute run for mayor, will residents be split on an ongoing issue for the city?

Last week, parks commissioner Bill Meine entered the race as a write-in candidate for city mayor because he was upset about the downgraded city civic project, according to a Contra Costa Times article.

While Meine's words about planning for growth rather than stopping growth is likely met with a mixed response from residents, it seems to embodies an overall theme of growth in San Ramon.

Earlier this year, the city's police department asked city council to consider additional officers. The force has had 58 sworn officers since 2007, despite a population increase of over 18,000.

"It wasn't eight years ago when people said the same thing about your tract of homes," Meine said to project opponents in a Contra Costa Times article.

Do you think Meine brings up a good point? Does San Ramon deserve a larger city center, and are they willing to go in debt for it?
