Week In Review: Oct. 10-15

Didn't get a chance to read up during the week? Here's a look at what happened.

Pied Principal: Windemere Ranch Middle School Principal David Bolin took a pie in the face in the middle of the quad Friday morning while hundreds of students cheered and laughed. Bolin was making good on a promise. He said he would allow a student to smash a pie in his face if his school registered more runners than nearby Gale Ranch Middle School for the Primo's Run. Windemere Ranch won, 576 runners to 574.

Expressing Regret: Officials in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District apologized for the scheduling of football games on Oct. 7, the start of Yom Kippur. Some Jewish community leaders criticized the decision. School officials said by the time they noticed the mistake it was too late to reschedule games.

Bike Rodeo: Students at Neil Armstrong Elementary School held a bicycle rodeo on their campus on Wednesday afternoon. The Street Smarts event is designed to teach children about bicycle safety. Among the safety stations were helmet inspection, bike check and traffic signs.
