Top 5 SRP Stories of the Week: Child Care Controversy, Attempted Sexual Assault, Music Video

In a school board meeting that some officials called the most contentious they have ever been involved in, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education selected new child care providers for three of its elementary schools Tuesday night.

 will likely no longer provide services at , and , with the board unanimously voting against renewing their lease at those locations. Starting next school year, Kids' Country will take over at Tassajara Hills and Twin Creeks. At Golden View, the YMCA will be the child care provider.

About 30 parents told the board during the more than three-hour-long meeting that they didn't want to change child care providers.

A 15-year-old girl was held at gun point while a man attempted to rob and sexually assault the teen before a vehicle scared the suspect off, San Ramon Police said in a press release.

The assault allegedly happened on a trail behind the in the Gateway Shopping Center at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and police are still searching for the suspect.

Police are looking for a light-skinned black male in his 20s. He is believed to be about 5-foot-7, has a medium build, short hair and was last seen wearing a blue v-neck shirt, denim jeans and has no facial hair.

Amber Lily, a sophomore, released her second music video last month.

The song, "Don't Know What To Do," was released Feb. 24 to capacity crowd at the Complete Actor's Place in Sherman Oaks, Calif. with hundreds more tuning into the live Ustream broadcast.

The event was attended by teen Hollywood stars from Disney, Nickelodeon and others, as well as industry executives, producers and recording artists.

Lawrence Livermore National Security, which manages the , has given $50,000 in gifts to nearby school districts in Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon and Tracy for their science programs, officials from the energy research lab announced this week.
