San Ramon Valley schools once again showed improvement in the 2012 Academic Performance Index Growth Report.

The overall 2012 API growth score for the district was 927, up 5 points from the 2011 API Base score of 922. It marks a two-year growth of 11 points.

The opening of a Walmart Neightborhood Market in San Ramon last month is one of the reasons some Walmart workers went on strike at five Bay Area stores on Tuesday, union organizers said.

A handful of workers at five Bay Area Walmarts — in San Leandro, Richmond, Oakland, Fremont and San Jose — are at the center of a historic effort to organize Walmart, which has been non-union for 50 years.

FTB officials say Minor, 48, owes $10.7 million in unpaid taxes. the board estimated he owed $14.2 million. A lien was placed on his property in July 2009.
