Fire: off of Broadmoor Drive Friday evening. No one was home at the time of the fire at 203 Chestnut Ct. And the cause remains under investigation.

School: Some Cal High students ventured to Pleasant Hill Thursday for an all-day field trip to experience Diablo Valley College's culinary arts program. Students joined other Bay Area high schoolers in the campus' commercial kitchens, where they cooked up a miso-soup lunch.
