Swalwell Honors Wounded Marine from San Ramon on House Floor

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Dublin) honored a former San Ramon resident on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Marine Sergeant Zachary George, who grew up in San Ramon, was wounded while serving his third tour of duty in February. Last week, President Barack Obama awarded George the Purple Heart.

A new barbeque restaurant is serving up dishes in San Ramon's Marketplace.

Rubs BBQ Bistro opened on Feb. 25 at 164 Market Place.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. It features Carolina pulled pork, Memphis-style chopped chicken, spicy Texas beef and Mesquite-Java chicken.

Lost Pet Sparks Helicopter Search in Blackhawk

A helicopter that alarmed some residents in Blackhawk Monday afternoon belonged to a pilot who was looking for his lost dog, according to Danville Police Lt. Jeff Moule.

The dog was found by a family that kept it until the owner could come pick it up. And no, he didn't land the copter in the yard. He came by car.

This Wednesday they learned the name of their new leader, Argentine Archbishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio, 76, who will from now on be known as Francis I. After just one day, Pope Francis I was chosen by the 115 Cardinals gathered in conclave. He now becomes the 266th Pope in the history of Catholicism.
