Shopping Center Planned for Site of Former Strip Club
A car rental business is the only one on the property now, but a plan is in the works to construct a 15,000-square-foot retail plaza on the corner of Hooper Drive and San Ramon Valley Boulevard.
The site of a shuttered strip club off of San Ramon Valley Boulevard is on track to become a retail plaza.
Planning commissioners at a Tuesday night meeting OK'd a proposal to build a 15,000-square-foot shopping center off of San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Hooper Drive, the one-time home of the Wicked Eye, which closed about 15 years ago.
The next step is for City Council to approve the proposal, which would demolish the Budget Rent-a-Car building currently on the property and replace it with a shopping center big enough for up to seven tenants and parking enough for 84 cars.

Now that San Ramon Plaza, as it's called in the application, is a step closer to approval the property owner can start marketing the space to potential tenants, said Marc Fontes, the city's director of economic development.
As part of the condition for building the shopping center, the property owner will landscape and put in a sidewalk and dozen parking spots along an 18-foot stretch along Hooper.
