  • Where/When: Village Theatre in Danville at 10 a.m. Friday
    Why Go: Give your kids the giggles by taking them to see the Bay Area's Unique Derique's "physical juggling comedy" in his Dancin' Lancin performance, part of the "Preschool Performance Series."

  • Where/When:
    Front Row Theater in San Ramon. Next two weekends, starting Saturday.
    Why Go:
    Your kids will love this classic favorite adapted for the stage. See the Bay Area Children's Theatre Company perform an imaginative retelling of how the Ingalls family leaves the little house in the "Big Woods" of Wisconsin for the unexplored prairie.
    Price: Adults $18, children $14

  • Where/When: Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton at 2 p.m. Saturday.
    Why Go: Music lovers will enjoy listening to local performers ages 6 - 18 showcase their musical talents. Diverse performances include traditional Italian accordion music, opera and even a reggae version of a popular Frank Sinatra tune.
    Price: $8

  • Where/When:
    Pleasanton Library at 2:20 p.m. Saturday.
    Why Go:
    If your kids are fascinated by creepy crawlies, they'll love this show by the East Bay Vivarium. Lizards, frogs, snakes and other slithering and hopping creatures will be guests of honor.

  • Where/When: Las Positas College in Livermore at 8 p.m. Sunday
    Why Go: See professional basketball right here in the Tri-Valley. If you've got older kids who can stay up a little late, take them to see the East Bay Pit Bulls play the Seattle Mountaineers. Want more basketball? Take the family to the Las Positas "Coaches vs. Cancer" basketball games Wednesday. All proceeds from the Wednesday event benefit the American Cancer Society. for details.

San Francisco's Chinese New Year Parade and Festival topped our list this week for a weekend outing. Your family will be awed by vibrant floats, elaborate costumes, marching bands, dancers and the ever-popular 250-foot-long golden dragon.
