Get Out: Poetry, Prose and Arts Festival, Goodguys Car Show and More

Here's your roundup of Patch's picks for weekend fun in the Tri-Valley.

Looking for something to do on this final weekend of March?

Patch's top five Tri-Valley picks will help you transition from work week to weekend.

You don’t have to cross a bridge for your weekend entertainment. From the Goodguys Car Show in Pleasanton to An Evening of Melodic Melange in Danville, we’ve got you covered.

1.
Where/When: Saturday and Sunday at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton
Why Go: You don't have to be a car enthusiast to enjoy this huge outdoor car show featuring more than 3,000 all-American rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, street machines and trucks. You'll also find an arts and crafts show, kids play area and exhibition area.
Price: $6 for kids, $17 for adults and $8 for parking

2.
Where/When:  Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore
Why Go:  The Livermore-Amador Symphony treats music lovers to Brahms' Symphony No. 4. Clarinetist Joe Bonfiglio, a graduate of The Julliard School, will be featured in the Clarinet Concerto by Aaron Copland.

Where/When: Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Bunjo's Comedy Lounge in Dublin
Why Go: This award-winning magician has entertained Hollywood celebrities such as Geena Davis and Shia LaBeof. Now he'll entertain you with his magic tricks and humor.

Where/When: Saturday and Sunday at the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton
Why Go: Whether you pen your own prose or just like to read it, you'll find plenty to do at the annual Poetry, Prose & Arts Festival. The two-day event includes workshops, poetry contests, book signings, music and a "literary row."

Where/When: Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Village Theatre in Danville
Why Go: End your weekend on a musical note by attending "Eve Marie Shahoian: A Night of Melodic Melange." Shahoian sings jazz standards, and contemporary and original music.

Out of Town Picks: At this year's San Francisco Flower & Garden Show at the San Mateo Event Center, you'll find 200 vendors selling outdoor living products, presenting 75 seminars and films and, new this year, "Garden to Table" cooking demonstrations by famous Bay Area chefs, including Alice Waters. You'll also find 6,000 square feet of edible garden displays, an expanded children's section and a wine garden. The show runs Wednesday through Sunday for $20 per person.
