The San Ramon City Council reluctantly raised the speed limit on 10 roadways last month.

All five members voted in favor changing the speed limit, though they expressed frustration they needed to do so because if they didn't they wouldn't be complying with state regulations, Mayor Bill Clarkson said.

$10 Million Paid by Chevron for Claims from Refinery Fire

Chevron has paid about $10 million to cover medical expenses and other claims in the wake of the fire at its Richmond refinery on Aug. 6 and is updating its equipment and safety procedures to prevent a similar incident, representatives from the oil company said on Monday.

A new school for early childhood development has opened in San Ramon. The Goddard School started classes on Jan. 14 at its facility at 100 Gatekeeper Road. There are 400 Goddard campuses across the country.
