BART officials announced Friday that it will operate longer trains on the day before Thanksgiving — the annual peak travel day — along the Pittsburg-Bay Point line, which serves SFO.

Travelers using San Francisco International Airport for Thanksgiving will be able to ride on longer BART trains and find more long-term parking spaces for the busiest travel days of the year.

BART officials announced Friday that the transit system will operate longer trains on the day before Thanksgiving — the annual peak travel day — along the Pittsburg-Bay Point line, which serves SFO.

On Thanksgiving Day, BART will follow a Sunday schedule, with service beginning at approximately 8 a.m. To carry those same passengers home again, BART will also run longer trains on the following Sunday, Nov. 28.

Full-length trains will operate from 6 a.m. until close of service on Nov. 26, or Black Friday.

BART officials said it will make 500 additional parking spaces available for airport and long-term parking reservations for those intending to park long-term at BART stations while traveling next week.

Drivers without long-term parking permits will be only be able to park for 24 hours in BART lots. Reserved spaces cost $5 to $6 per day, depending on the location. Drivers face a fine of $100 if they go over the time limit.

To find more information and make reservations, drivers can log onto bart.gov/parking.

BART officials recommend that drivers park before 10 a.m. to snag a guaranteed space. Although travelers can park in any space after 10 a.m., BART cannot guarantee a spot will be available.
