Firefighters Extinguish Portsmouth Court Fire

San Ramon Valley firefighters extinguished their second house fire in three days on Portsmouth Court on Monday.

Emergency crews responded to the area for a reported structure fire at about noon and found the garage of the home engulfed in flames, San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District spokeswoman Kimberly French said.

Firefighters had the fire completely contained by 1:30 p.m. No other homes were damaged in the blaze and nobody was hurt.

Newsweek Names Dougherty Valley As The Second Best High School in the East Bay

Newsweek has ranked Dougherty Valley as the 100th best high school in the country.

The San Ramon school also had the highest ranking of any high school in the East Bay except for American Indian Public High in Oakland.
