Hitler is Bad

Hitler is bad.

OK, big fat duh, Hitler is bad. I promised not to get political and I'm keeping that promise. We can all agree that Hitler is bad.

I came about this post because a dear friend of mine encountered some protesters in Lafayette waving an image of Hitler, super-imposed over a politician's face. Whose face does not matter. It's inappropriate.

My friend was deeply offended enough to sit with her anger and take a picture of these women and lament their existence. She did tell them she was offended because she is Jewish and their response was asking her to join them. But I think everyone should be offended, Jewish or not. Hitler killed more than Jews, he was responsible for the deaths of many innocent people. To wave his image around in the name of any American politician is just sick and wrong.

Clinton was not Hitler, George H.W. was not Hitler, George W. was not Hitler and Obama is not Hitler. Only Hitler is Hitler. And these women in Lafayette, not even brave enough to plant themselves on the main drag, are smiling sickeningly and waving around an image of a mass muderer. It's true, these women are misguided and lazy. Planting themselves between A. G. Ferrari and Starbucks. I would protest every day if I could grab a mocha and a tasty sandwich so easily.

I don't think my friend needs to apologize at all for having such strong feelings. I haven't been able to shake it all day.
