Sprouts & Shutters: Ike's Lair, Itrim, Dawn to Dusk Cafe and More

Ike’s Lair will open this fall in Danville’s Trader Joe’s shopping center near Danville’s new Chipotle Mexican Grill. The popular Bay Area based sandwich shop goes beyond your typical meat-cheese-lettuce-tomato-mayo sandwich, serving creative concoctions like King Koopa (All-beef meatballs, mozzarella sticks, stuffed jalapeno poppers and marinara) and Backstabber (Halal chicken breast, marinated artichoke hearts, Caesar and provolone). After 30 years in business, closed its Danville Livery store Sept. 2. Read the store’s own announcement and reader comments in Patch’s .

Opening Updates: Two new restaurants recently opened in Danville’s Blackhawk Plaza: Ferrari’s Cucina Italiana, previewed in a last year, opened in mid August. And Blue Gingko, covered in the same , opened a few days later.

Swedish-based Itrim is set to open a weight loss and exercise club in San Ramon’s Crow Canyon Commons shopping center next to Loard's Ice Cream in mid September. According to the company, Itrim “combines healthy eating, exercise and encouragement for lasting weight loss.” The San Ramon Itrim is the company’s second U.S. location (the first opened in Lafayette a few weeks ago). 

Beijing Cuisine opened in Dublin recently next to 99 Ranch Market. The new Chinese restaurant serves “Noodles with Soy Bean Paste Beijing Style,” “Beijing Onion Cakes” and other regional specialties. Beijing Cuisine replaced the short-lived Full House Chinese Restaurant, which specialized in Taiwanese cuisine.

Dawn to Dusk Café opens soon in the Oak Hills Shopping Center on Sunol Boulevard in Pleasanton. Owner Ayaz Qureishy says his new eatery will serve bagels, egg sandwiches, crepes, pancakes and breakfast burritos in the morning then flatbread pizzas, soups, sandwiches and salads in the afternoon and Mediterranean fare in the evening. Qureishy hopes to open his casual new eatery this fall.

Opening Update: Things Remembered, previewed in a July , opened Aug. 10 in the Stoneridge Shopping Center.

Opening Update: Voodoo Kitchen, previewed in an August , is now open on Koll Center Parkway in Pleasanton.

Livermore’s moves into its new space Sept. 4.  Mindful Movements made the short move from its former location on Second Street over the weekend, relocating into a larger studio in the historic Forester’s building on J Street across from the Riata Diner.
