Sprouts & Shutters: Indian Restaurant Expands, Mattress Store Opens, Chocolate Shop Arrives

San Ramon’s new Hyderabad Biryani House, covered in the , has already expanded. The casual Indian eatery, located on San Ramon Valley Boulevard next to Madras Groceries, took over Jaunty’s old space after the clothing consignment store closed in early November.

San Ramon’s old Borders store will get a new tenant this spring: The discount home furnishings chain HomeGoods plans an April opening next to Whole Foods Market in the Shops At Bishop Ranch shopping center. Read more about the large retail store in Patch's .

The City of San Ramon recently updated its “Shop San Ramon First” website. The site revision, timed for holiday shopping, now includes more than 600 San Ramon retail and commercial service businesses. Listings now include location maps and business website links. Opening Update: The eco-friendly Yiping restaurant, previewed in the , opened Dec. 2 in Ha's old space on San Ramon Valley Boulevard.

Opening Update: Vivon, covered in the , opened in late November in the Shops At Bishop Ranch next to Mad Fish. Vivon is San Ramon’s first mattress store and Vivon’s first U.S. location.

Santorini took over Round Table Pizza's old space in Danville's Town and Country shopping center Dec. 5. The new restaurant, located downstairs from El Nido Mexican restaurant, serves a variety of Mediterranean dishes such as homemade hummus, lamb kabob, moussaka, pomegranate chicken and seafood pasta. Santorini's owners also own Silk Road in Walnut Creek.

Papa John’s Pizza opened on Hartz Avenue in Danville on Nov. 17. The large national chain, which boasts more than 3,500 restaurants, opened next to Kane Sushi near San Ramon Valley High School.

Divine Inspirations opened earlier this fall on Railroad Avenue behind Pete’s Brass Rail & Car Wash. The new locally owned store sells inspirational gifts, devotionals, work by local artists, home décor, jewelry and more. Divine Inspirations also offers “Holistic Wellness” classes and workshops. Opening Update: Just in time for the holidays: Chocolatier Blue, previewed way back in the , opened its long awaited chocolate shop in Danville’s Blackhawk Plaza on Dec. 3. You can get the gift of gourmet chocolate at Berkeley-based Chocolatier Blue’s newest store next door to Stomp.

Dublin Liquor and Wine is set to open at the end of December in the Dublin Corners shopping center near the Toyota dealership off Dublin Boulevard. Owner Mejor Bains says his new store will sell wine, beer and other alcoholic beverages plus snacks and cigars. 

The City of Dublin and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce recently launched the “Shop Local Holiday Campaign.” The campaign, which runs through Dec. 31, features profiles of local businesses and special deals for consumers on a new facebook page.

Looking for some fun vintage décor to spruce up your upcoming holiday party? Pleasanton’s new A Peach and a Pear, which opened earlier this fall, provides vintage items for event rentals. Located on Boulder Court, the new business also holds monthly warehouse merchandise sales. Browse the inventory at apeachandapear.com.

Opening UpdateJuice & Java Express, previewed in the , opened on 
West Angela Street Pleasanton next to Bellezza Cristali's Hair Salon on Nov. 27. The café serves fresh fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies, organic fair-trade coffee and baked goods. 

Opening Update:  in Pleasanton, previewed in the , opened on Stanley Boulevard in mid November. Formosa Café serves Asian cuisine, including Chinese food, sushi and Thai dishes. 

Del Sole Comfort Shoes opened on South Livermore Avenue in mid November after closing its Tracy location. The store specializes in shoes that offer comfort and stability and carries brands like Ugg, Ecco, Merrell, New Balance and Brooks. The new store is near Dawn Schubert Photography and Main Street Designs. 

Livermore’s Chevys Mexican restaurant closed Nov. 13. A corporate spokesman said that the restaurant at that location was not generating enough income to continue. He said there were no plans at this time to close the other Tri-Valley Chevys, located in San Ramon and Pleasanton. The parent company of Chevys restaurants  bankruptcy earlier this fall. 

Opening Update: El Sacromonte, previewed in the  was set to open the week of Dec. 12. The new gourmet Mexican restaurant is located in the historic building on First Street next to Modena’s Closet and the new Double Barrel Wine Bar.
