Skimming at Target Hits San Ramon Shoppers

Has anyone else's information been used after shopping at a Target in the Tri-Valley?

If you happened to have shopped at Target between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15, you'll want to keep a close eye on your account statements.

Target confirmed a security breach Thursday morning that says nearly 40 million credit or debit cards may have been breached.

Danville resident Amy McCoy learned that her card was skimmed at the Target in San Ramon following a transaction on Nov. 27.

McCoy went shopping on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at the Target on Bishop Drive in San Ramon, and also made a transaction at the store's Starbucks.

Bank of America alerted her to a suspicious transaction at a Ralphs grocery store in Los Angeles on Dec. 18, for over $50. McCoy denied the transaction and able to quickly cancel her card.

Another San Ramon reader posted that she was last in San Ramon three months ago, but was notified by her credit card company that someone used her information at a Target in New York three times in November.

While it's unclear how the hackers gained the information, it's clear what they were able obtain bank card names, credit or debit card numbers, card’s expiration dates and the three-digit security codes (CVV), according to a statement from Target.
