HomeGoods To Replace Borders Store

A large discount home furnishings store will move next door to Whole Foods this spring.

San Ramon’s empty Borders store will soon get a new tenant.

HomeGoods, a large retail chain, sells name-brand home décor, bedding, cookware, furniture and seasonal gifts at 20 – 60 percent off specialty and department store prices.

“We think that HomeGoods will be a great addition to San Ramon’s retail mix and a strong co-tenant for Whole Foods and Target,” says Marc Fontes, director of economic development for the City. “We don’t have many home furnishing stores in our city and we expect HomeGoods to be a long-term asset for our community.”

The large chain’s parent company, TJX Companies, Inc., also owns T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. It operates more than 325 Home Goods stores across the country. The nearest Home Goods is .

San Ramon’s new HomeGoods is scheduled to open in April 2012, according to Robyn Arvedon, manager of public relations for HomeGoods. Arvedon said details about the opening date and specifics about the new store should come early next year.
