Dunkin' Donuts is heading to the Bay Area.

The company announced Monday its plans to open 80 Dunkin' Donuts stores in Northern California over the next five-to-six years, according to NBC Bay Area.

The East Coast fan favorite opened its first Southern California stores last year.

The one-stop-shop for coffee and baked treats says it wants to open more than 1,000 franchises in California in the future.

It's not yet been released where the Bay Area stores might be located.

At last! Now my friends and family from the Midwest and the East Coast who are totally addicted to DD coffee can come for an extended visit! People actually ask me where in the Bay Area they can get Dunkin' when they come to visit me....when I tell them there is no Dunkin' they actually look teary eyed!

I'm not much of a donut eater, but I don't think the mom and pop donut shops already in San Ramon need the competition from a global company.
