Make Your Own Victorian Valentine Cards at Forest Home Farms

People can make Victorian Valentine's between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Forest Hill Farms on Saturday.

When thinking of holidays with great histories, Valentine's Day might not be the first that comes to mind. But families and kids will have a chance to make Valentine's cards the old fashion way at in San Ramon on Saturday.

The scissors, tape, glue and construction paper will be out as visitors make Victorian Valentines in the Walnut Barn on the farm, at 19953 San Ramon Valley Boulevard.

"This is something that ties in today with yesterday," said Sharon Peterson, city coordinator for Forest Home Farms. "Valentine's Day has a long history and it's neat to look at the styles they had then and the styles they have now."

The Valentine card making is the theme for this month's Second Saturday at Forest Home. Patrons will also have a chance to take tours of the farm and The Glass House. There's also a planned sheep herding demonstration.

The 16-acre farm is one of the most historical sites in the East Bay, with buildings that go back to the 1850s and the recently restored , which is open for tours.
