Local Arts Foundation Hosts Black-Tie Fund Raiser to Support Arts Education in Public Schools

A San Ramon Valley arts foundation whose aim is to support a future generation of artists will host a fund raiser Oct. 1.

The San Ramon Arts Foundation will bring back its black-tie fund raiser, called "Swing Into the Arts," for a second year.

The nonprofit organization, founded in 2000, supports performing and visual arts education in local schools. The event raised $10,000 last year, and the goal is to double that amount this time around.

"[The gala] is a great way for the foundation to bring attention and generate fund raising for local arts education," said treasurer Terry Cunningham."We want to thank all of our supporters for keeping our arts education alive. "

Guests can bid in live and silent auctions and dine on food by PBS Catering. Lady K and the Kings of Swing will play live music throughout the evening.

"We hope that 'Swing Into the Arts' can bring awareness to the community about the importance of arts," said Cunningham. " With budget setbacks, it is important for us to assist local schools to provide alternative outlets for arts education."
