PHOTOS: Heavy Lifting at the Glass House

Wondering what that crane's lifting at Forest Home Farms today? It's a new historic addition to the pioneer home.

The city on Monday moved a historic redwood tank from the Henry Ranch to the top of the Glass House water tank at .

Here's more info from San Ramon Parks and Community Services District Program Manager Kim Giuliano:

The redwood tank was donated by the Henry family. It was used on the Henry Ranch for many years as a source of water. It was moved today from their property to Forest Home Farms and placed on top of the Tank House that belongs to the Glass House.

There was a tank on top of the tank house when the Glass Family lived in the house in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Aztec Consultants, a contracting firm in San Ramon completed the work.

The tank house had to be stabilized to hold the weight and the tank had to be retrofitted to be placed on the house. It took a huge crane to move the tank and place it on the Tank House at Forest Home Farms where it can be seen by many generations of visitors to the site. This is the first half of this project.

The next phase will be the placement of a windmill by the Tank House. The San Ramon Historic Foundation is raising funds to complete this project. They are hosting a Glass family descendant reunion this weekend as a fundraiser for the windmill project. For more info, call 925-973-3284.
