Free Coffee in San Ramon for National Coffee Day

Sept. 29 is National Coffee Day, and Starbucks and Peet's have free coffee offers for java lovers.

Wake up and smell the coffee!

National Coffee Day is this Sunday, Sept. 29. If you’re dragging a bit, you can get a free cup at a number of local coffee shops.

Peet's Coffee & Tea is offering a free 12 ounce maple latte
 with the purchase any "artisan baked good" or "Simply Oatmeal" between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sept. 29. Get the coupon here. (The coupon is not valid for supermarket locations.)

According to the Starbucks website, Starbucks is offering free samples of their new Ethiopia coffee on Sept. 29. Those who purchase a bag of the Ethiopia coffee that day will receive commemorative Ethiopia tasting cup.

The National Coffee Association says 83 percent of Americans have had a cup of coffee in the past year.


While there are some health concerns about over-consumption of caffeine, “for most people the health benefits [of consuming coffee] outweigh the risks,” according to the Mayo Clinic.

In moderation, coffee may help prevent Parkinson’s disease, Type 2 diabetes and liver cancer. It also contains antioxidants.
