Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Week of April 4: Here's your need-to-know guide, San Ramon Valley residents.

Each Monday, we highlight some upcoming events in the San Ramon Valley. 

1. Scavenger Hunt – The will host a , inspired by the Kids Read book, "Dear Peter Rabbit." Children will search the library for clues and earn a special prize. This event, for children ages 4 to 8, begins at 10 a.m. daily until Friday. The library is located at 400 Front St. in Danville. Call 925-837-4889 for more information.

2. Art in the Valley – Art enthusiasts  have several exhibits to visit this month. “Finding Balance: Glass Art in the Bay Area Art” showcases local and regional glass artists with this display of functional and sculptural objects that span decades of glassmaking in the Bay Area. This exhibit continues until May 7, at the , 233 Front St. in Danville. The Gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Call 925-314-3400 or visit their website for more information. The Lindsay Dirkx Brown Art Gallery at the is featuring the fine art of travel photographer, Nido Paras. This exhibit features 35 archival quality prints of landscapes and people from photographs of his recent trip to Turkey. The exhibit continues until April 30. The gallery, located at 12501 Alcosta Blvd. is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. The Gallery will host an artist reception from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. 3. Forest Home Farms Events – The Farm hosts after school field trips including "Fun with Farm Animals," "Behind-the-Scenes with Tractors," "Dig In and Grow" and "Preschool Fun at the Farm." Field trips are for groups of five children or more and can be booked Monday through Friday by calling 925-973-3284. Cost is $5 per child.  Register this week for a special event, "All About Sheep," a story time with the Farmer. This event is for children ages 3 to 5 years old and takes place from 10 to 11 a.m. on April 11. Cost is $5 for residents; $6 for non-residents, children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required, so call 925-973-3200. is located 19953 San Ramon Valley Blvd. in San Ramon.

4. Spring Service of Remembrance – Hope Hospice will host its Spring Service of Remembrance at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the offices, 6377 Clark Ave. in Dublin. For more information call 925-829-8770. 5. Museum Exhibit – "Bear in Mind, The Story of the California Grizzly” exhibit is on display until May 7 at . The museum will host special events in the coming weeks: April 3, meet Susan Snyder, author of "Bear in Mind;" April 10, Bank of the West Bear Day, with free stuffed bears for young children, bear stories and snacks; April 17, "Learn about Bay Miwok Bear Legends and Myths" from Indian expert Craig Miller; and May 1, park ranger and filmmaker Steve Bumgardner talks about "Black Bears in the Sierra." The museum, located at 205 Railroad Ave. in Danville is open from 1 to 4 p.m., Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.on Saturdays.
