Five Things You Need to Know this Week

Week of March 21: Here's your need-to-know guide, San Ramon Valley residents.

Each Monday, we highlight some upcoming events in the San Ramon Valley.

1. Family Day: School is out today and the Museum of the San Ramon Valley, 205 Railroad Ave., in Danville has a special family event planned. Three "Bear in Mind" sessions offer something fun to entertain you and your kids. Each session includes bear games, bear stories, bear activities, bear cartoons and bear food, tying in with the museum's new "Bear in Mind: The Story of the California Grizzly" exhibit. 2. Congress on Your Corner: From 2 to 3 p.m. today, Congressman Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, will host his latest "Congress at Your Corner" event at the Dublin Library, 200 Civic Plaza. The public is invited to come and share opinions on matters of importance or to ask assistance resolving issues with a federal agency. McNerney will meet with small groups of people in 30-minute segments based on the order in which they arrive.

3. Teen Esteem: On Wednesday, hear from a panel of experts on how to better understand and equip your child with tools to safely navigate the world of Cyberspace & Social Networking. The panel includes experts from Teen Esteem and officers from the Danville Police Department. Two sessions are being offered from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m or 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Round Hill Country Club, 3169 Round Hill Road, in Alamo. 4. Children’s Theater:  Danville Children's Music Theater presentation of Willy Wonka continues Thursday at the Village Theatre, 233 Front St., in Danville. This timeless story of the world famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory," which features the songs from the classic family film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."  Click here for show times and to order tickets. 5. Farmers Market: Every Friday and Sunday the Island Earth Farmers Market takes place at the Stoneridge Shopping Mall, 1 Stoneridge Mall, in Pleasanton at the southeast corner parking lot between Macys and Sears. The market features growers who are committed to producing fresh healthy foods, and practice sustainable, organic, and biodynamic farming principles. The market is open each Friday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
