9/11 Essay Contest Winners to be Announced Tuesday

The winners for this year's 9/11 essay contest for students will be announced Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the San Ramon Council Chamber.

The contest, hosted by the Exchange Club of San Ramon Valley, received an "almost overwhelming" response to the contest, wrote Phil Linder, the club's vice president of communications.

The prompt asked students, "Why do we have a Memorial Ceremony on September 11th?"

The contest was open to 1st through 12th grade students, with prizes ranging from $50 to $500.

Alicia Watson chaired the contest and organized and oversaw the judging.

The awards will be presented at 7 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the San Ramon City Council Chamber, 2222 Camino Ramon, San Ramon.
