Assisteens®  Install 2013-2014 Governing Body and Attend Annual Conference

The 2013-2014 governing body of Assistance League of Diablo Valley’s Assisteens Auxiliary was installed on June 18. The new governing body includes both returning and new members from Northgate, Monte Vista, and Los Lomas High Schools. This combination of returning and new members is instrumental in creating a governing body that is both organized and enthusiastic.

The 2013 annual Assisteens Conference was held at Cal State University Long Beach, June 21-23. Six Assisteens from Assistance League of Diablo Valley joined 150 Assisteens from 27 other chapters and were welcomed by the National Assistance League President, Anne Neish.  Former Assisteens and current National Director of Strategic Planning Kathy Darwin encouraged attendees to branch out and meet new people. In addition to networking with Assisteens from other chapters during the weekend, Assisteens attended courses on Conflict Management, Communication Skills, and Ethical Decision Making. These classes helped the teenagers build vital life skills. All returned home motivated to start a new philanthropic program in the community.
