Hospital Staff Celebrates Volunteer's 90th Birthday

Long-Time Hospital Volunteer, Rudy Fruscella, Celebrates 90th Birthday

SAN RAMON, Calif. – June 29, 2012- Rudolph (Rudy) J. Fruscella celebrated his 90th birthday at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. Hospital volunteers and employees gathered in the cafeteria for a surprise birthday celebration on June 25.

Rudy has worked as a volunteer at San Ramon Regional Medical Center for 21 years.  Hospital staff members know him well for his warm smile and hugs, and ready jokes.

A Danville resident, Rudy was born on June 26, 1922 in Akron, Ohio. He moved to Danville in 1973. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he worked in pharmaceutical sales in hospitals for the McKesson Corporation for 37 years.

Shortly after moving to Danville, Rudy met Ann Rueckert, his “significant other.” They both enjoy volunteering at the San Ramon hospital.

As an active member of the community, Rudy is the head usher at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church in Danville, and he is a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.

Rudy is proud of his daughter, Betsy Burgess, her husband Jim, and his three granddaughters, Ashley, Billie and Maddie Burgess.
