Rock Out to Free Concerts Through July
Enjoy the sounds of four upbeat bands playing for free in Central Park on Sunday evenings this month.
Sunday nights are about to get a little more rockin' around San Ramon.
The free Summer Concert Series, put together by San Ramon Parks and Community Services, begins at 5:30 p.m. July 11 with a show from the Fundamentals — the first in a four-part series of free concerts.
From covers to country, the series' four high-energy bands are sure to keep the audience engaged. Spread out your blanket, bring a picnic and a chair or two, and get ready to kick off your shoes, because these bands are going to play sing-a-long tunes and you may just want to dance.

Beer, wine, soda and ice cream will be available for purchase (if you can't fit it all in your cooler).

The Fundamentals
The Fundamentals, a nine-person, high-tempo ensemble has been together for 18 years. With three lead vocalists, two horn players and a tight four-piece rhythm section, their upbeat and diverse variety of covers — from a classic rendition of Van Morrison's "Oh Domino," to an updated sultry cover of the Pussycat Dolls "Don't Cha"— is sure to please the whole family. Casino Royale
Casino Royale is a 1960s themed band who will bring mystery, suspense, tempo, and perhaps a good pair of go-go boots. These jet-setters have played shows all over the West, including in San Diego, Vegas and Los Angeles and promise to get your party "go go going." The band promises all sorts of decade-bending classics, like "Sun of a Preacher Man," "Shout," and "Tainted Love." Check out some of their songs on their MySpace.

Pride and Joy
Enticed by a more smooth R&B night? Pride and Joy, a nine-person ensemble, has been a mainstay of the Bay Area music scene for over 25 years. Their name comes from being the "pride" of the Bay Area, and the "joy" they give to their audience as they play music. Pride & Joy founder and bandleader Coleman Burke says the band is about "creating a feeling in the room," or in this case, the park.
August 1
Diablo Road
Diablo Road is a bold new country band fronted by NBC's "Nasville Star" Jewels Hanson. Originally from Fremont, Calif., Hanson will be bringing San Ramon some star-powered country music. Hanson, who refers to herself as a strong, red-blooded woman, is joined by Bill Mooney as lead vocals, Bass Gary Tackett on guitar and John Valdez on the drums.
