Love & Hummus is a business that began out of a desire for really high quality food. As a new mom back at work, owner Donna Sky felt she no longer had time to make some of her favorite recipes. When she searched for store-bought versions of foods like hummus, she found they didn’t measure up to what she could make on her own if she had the time to do so. With a desire to teach her daughter good nutrition habits and a dream, Donna began Love & Hummus.

“At The Love & Hummus Co., we are in the business of much more than hummus making," Donna said. "We believe that running a business is a privilege that comes with the responsibility of making the world a better place in the process. Local. We hand make and sell our hummus locally at specialty food stores throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.” 

Luckily for San Ramon residents, one of the places it's sold is at the Saturday San Ramon Farmer’s Market at Bishop Ranch. In fact, San Ramon’s market is the only one at which Donna sells her product.

In addition to using organic ingredients, all food is made in a “green” kitchen in San Francisco, in preparation for each market. Donna makes her hummus in small batches to ensure quality. Love & Hummus is available in classic, roasted lemon and thyme, harissa and caramelized garlic. Stop by the booth at the market to sample the delectable flavors.

Each week, Donna arrives at the San Ramon market at 8 a.m. and gets ready to sell her gourmet hummus from 9 to 1 p.m. She is happy to report that the flow of customers at Love & Hummus is steady. Obviously, her customers know great hummus when they taste it.

Love & Hummus is available at Whole Foods in San Ramon and the San Francisco and Marin County Whole Foods stores. It is also available at Rainbow Grocery Co-op and Faletti's, and the booth at the market.
